wow. [Jan. 16th, 2007|10:18 pm]
three inches of snow fell here today, and people are LOSING IT.

the entire city shut down. everything is canceled today and tomorrow. the streets are not salted, sanded, or cleared. we just saw on the news that some kid threw a snowball at a car; the driver pulled over, flipped out, and stabbed the kid. in the torso. he's in critical care. also, they just said that there are 10 "sledding accidents" reported already.

amateurs.

oh, livejournal. sometimes i just lose interest in writing in you.

i was always the kind of kid that got really excited about my New Lisa Frank Diary and made about four entries before completely losing interest. my bedroom was full of notebooks with just a few pages marked up. WHAT A LOSER

i hope everyone had good christmas holiday stuff things. and whatnot.

it's cold outside tonight, and Jeremy won't stop watching all the Rocky movies all the time. SOMEONE MAKE HIM STOP. he made me go see the new one. it was worse than any of you can possibly imagine. and not in a funny way. holy crap his face and body look so much like old meat. and not in a funny way.

peas out hommies.

A Few Things That I Would Like To Say

wow. the new Marie Antoinette is just like a hipster: obsessed with clothing, often makes poor musical choices, and is sort of boring most of the time due to a lack of personality. that sucks. what happened, Sofia? you really dropped the ball with that one.

people shouldn't be allowed to speak in art museums. or, at the very least, there should be a hefty fine if you use the phrase "the human condition" within hearing distance of another person.

Gus Van Sant is filming a scene for his new film at the gelato place i work. so, that's kind of cool. i guess he lives here. people say he seems nice. oh oh, and i'm pretty sure i saw this guy on the max last night. hah.

Jeremy and i are both doing pretty darn good. i miss you guys, though. i hope everybody is doing well.

The End

i NEED to own this. [Nov. 7th, 2006|11:13 am]

"This surprising entry from another member of the cast of Babylon 5 is impossible to pin down. One moment, the backing tracks are thumping club music, and a few minutes later, the music takes on an austere, hymnal tone. And on the next song, we're treated to a dreamy heavy-music, light-voice tune along the lines of Julee Cruise's style."

"...The album also has a PC-compatible multimedia component, in which we supposedly get to look at the "movies that have never been made" in the form of short music videos."

incredible.

evil never dies [Nov. 1st, 2006|08:42 pm]
i took a stroll down Horror Lane this past Halloween weekend, and it was great.

what's up horror movies. i've missed you guys.

also, we went to a haunted house type thing on the east side last night. it was pretty cool... they were creative about it, anyway. i was really startled by a midget dressed up like a dead panda at one point. and Jeremy kept yelling really, really loudly. like, Tom Hanks in The Burbs style.
...

wish me luck at my job interview tomorrow. i might get a pretty "sweet" employee discount if i get it. HAAHAA! it's at a gelato place, so. that's why that was funny.

well hello. [Oct. 19th, 2006|03:55 pm]
so! things are going well here. after working out some kinks (getting the wrong front door key, no mailbox key, and some good old fashion Rusty Water was thrown in the mix, too), we're starting to get settled into this space. we bought a futon! i guess that means i'm basing my studio-apartment decorating techniques on Lindsay's old place. now i'm going to have to get some red chile-pepper lights to line the window.

we haven't found jobs yet, and both of us are thoroughly enjoying being bums. i've been cooking a lot to save money, walking around the city exploring (there must be more sex shops per capita mile here then anywhere else in this country), and drinking far too much coffee.

we went to the the Zoo recently, which was sort of depressing at times (sad-looking monkeys, polar bears with no space)...

however, we saw one of THESE.

that's right, an authentic Turkey Vulture! aka "America's Favorite Animal" aka "Bird of Vast Beauty".

Jeremy takes our Turkey Vulture Pin very seriously, as you can see. also, if you look closely, you can just make out that he's starting to wear The Red Pants again. GOD HELP US ALL.

oh! and i'm about to start Being Crafty. i bought a bunch of old Pana-Vue slides of Alaska and California in the 70's, and i'm going to cover a lamp shade with them. LOOK I'M BEING CRAFTY. do any of you have any recommendations for a clear glue that will work on both plastic and fabric?

also, Jeremy bought an inflatable basketball hoop for $5 yesterday, but part of it deflated overnight.

awww. i guess it has a hole in it. he was really sad.

...
we're considering spending a little time in Seattle before we get too busy. as you may or may not know, some of you have been there. cheap places to eat? cool things to see? eh?

there are certain things that i do on a day to day basis that make me think of people, and often times, miss their company. some examples are: when i make coffee in a regular drip coffee maker, i think of my mom. when i watch an episode of Law and Order, i think of DeAnne and also Graham. i saw a volcano on tv today, and i thought of Lindsay.

when i eat really, really good food, i think of my friend Etienne. something i really miss about Etienne's company is hearing his various catch phrases. "that is so good it makes me want to slap my grandmother." or, "is the pope polish? / is the pope dead? / is the pope a former nazi?"

i'm feeling a bit homesick tonight, and i think it's because i ate a taco and thought of Mexican Lost Night aka Noche Perdida Mexicano.

here are some nice photographs.

we found an apartment! we're signing the lease tomorrow!

it's an inexpensive little studio on NW 18th - just the area we were hoping to live in. it's in an old building, like three blocks away from the Pearl District and all kinds of stuff. it's nice, too!

this last one is the courtyard outside.. our windows face this instead of the street, so. not much direct sunlight, but it seems really quiet.

oh! the buzzer is an antique telephone, it's super cute. it looks like this.

i'm so relieved and happy.
i'm going to buy some champagne.
wooooo!

dear diary,

today was like a little pop quiz for my good spirits.

1. can you not freak out when i throw a ton of strange and tremendously annoying circumstances your way?

a)no, i... i don't think so
b)i'm not sure. yes?
c)WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW
d)none of the above

i've opted for choice d. i'm choosing to remain neutral on the subject of today. i will simply disregard it. i am snubbing it. turning my nose up at it. i will pretend to be busy if it ever calls again.

so! we have indeed made it to Portland. after about five days of exploring, my favorite things we've discovered so far are:

a)

it is a very large outdoor market with all kids of stuff like super cheap local veggies and corn-dogs and candles made out of hippies or whatever.

b)

retro arcade + bar + good music = me hogging ms. pacman for at least 2 or 3 drunken hours.

c)

Portland is a damn near perfect grid system! it's really really easy to find your way around, judge how far away things are, etc.

d)

Powell's books is just as awesome as we expected it to be! it's an independently owned new and used book store the size of one city block. it's huge! also, they shelve the new with the used instead of having a separate section, which is always nice.

e) it's not that rainy yet! YEAH!

...

the train ride here was sometimes boring, and sometimes beautiful. if i can figure out how to get pictures off my cell phone, i'll post some that we got of the Columbia River and Mt. Hood and stuff. very pretty.

it went by fairly fast, probably due to the real strict schedule they put us on. they pulled out the beds in the rooms at 9PM sharp, and since the rooms are so very very tiny, when the beds are out, you sort of just have to lay down and go to bed. breakfast is served from 6AM to 8AM, and because the meals were included in the price of the ticket, we felt we had to get up and eat it. ...basically, we got really fat and lived like the elderly for 3 days.

and oh, oh the elderly. apparently, trains are mostly popular with VERY OLD PEOPLE. if i had some reservations or stereotypes about old people before this, they have certainly been verified. here is a haiku i wrote about it.

food falling from mouths;
half dead, so much complaining.
what's that fucking smell

...

Jeremy Says: I woke up in the middle of the night and I didn't know where I was, but then I found the bathroom and after that I found the bed again.
